Joe Biden’s old boss Barack Obama is encouraging Democrats to rally around the President despite his catastrophic debate performance Thursday night.

The former POTUS took to X to make his plea.

“Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know,” Obama, 62, wrote on X Friday afternoon.

“But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself,” Obama insisted.

“Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit.”

“Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November.”

Polls in the wake of Biden’s rough night show voters overwhelmingly feel Donald Trump won the debate. According to a New York Post poll,  82% of voters feel Joe Biden shouldn’t run for president.

In comparison, just 18% said Biden should keep campaigning.

From The New York Post:

As of Friday morning, a total of 3,340 people had cast their vote in The Post’s poll, which was put out after Biden went head to head with Trump in the first 2024 presidential debate.

The results come after Biden’s raspy and halting attempts to confront his GOP rival on stage sparked fresh calls for the incumbent to consider stepping aside as his party’s nominee — just four months out from the election.

Biden has already insisted he has no plans to call it quits, telling supporters in Atlanta, Ga., just moments after leaving the debate stage, “Let’s keep going.”
