Love is in the air once again.  After a week off while I was on vacation, True Romance with SeanJo is back, and we’re picking things up right where we left off.

For those who missed the prior True Romance, we made our way through some daddy issues, a woman dating a married father, and hall passes being given out by a cheater to even the score.

It was quite the ride.  We also had a reader submission which are always a lot of fun to work our way through and, of course, welcome and encouraged.

That leads us to the friendly reminder portion of the day’s lovely walk through the anything but boring side of relationships and romance.  I want to hear from you.

If you have a true romance story you want to share or any knowledge to pass along regarding anything you see here, feel free to do so.  Send the emails my way at sean.joseph@outkick.com.

Now let’s dive right into this week’s action.

Maid of honor in love with her best friend who is marrying her brother

Tales of the heart can get quite complicated.  There aren’t many as complicated as being in love with your best friend and being asked to be the maid of honor at her wedding where she plans to tie the knot with your brother.

If there wasn’t that family bound there could have been a simple resolution to the matter.  We’ve heard these stories before of the bride and groom getting in some extracurricular activity with the maid of honor.

It’s hard to see that sort of situation playing out here, but stranger things have happened.

Let’s break this all down from the perspective of the best friend/maid of honor who is having a hard time with the fact that there’s a wedding about to take place.

The maid of honor, who has known the bride since childhood, finds herself in a tough spot.  She never thought that the relationship with her brother would last.

“I thought they’d have their fun for a minute, then break up, and we’d all laugh about it someday,” the best friend admitted.  “It’s clearly no longer the plan.”

This has put her in a tough spot.  She added, “For me, the sun doesn’t rise in the morning before I talk to her.  She’s the light of my life.”

That said, she intends to be a supportive best friend at the wedding.  Although the fact that her brother is the groom has thrown a wrench into everything.

“This isn’t just some guy I can politely ignore and forget about,” she said of the uncomfortable position she finds herself in.  “It’s my brother.”

She says that she’s never discussed her feelings for her friend with her brother, but that he seems to understand them and there’s been a tension between them.

Her duties as the maid of honor have pushed her to the point where she’s seriously considering not attending the wedding and doing so without giving an explanation.

In my opinion, that would be a huge mistake.  She has to go to the wedding and, without making a scene, start to ease her way into things.  This is an opportunity to make a move during fog of the celebration.

Nothing too forward.  A subtle move can set the stage for a bizarre love triangle down the road.

Husband cheated with son’s girlfriend

Let’s jump from someone who has yet to cross any boundaries to someone who went too far.  There’s a delicate line to walk and rarely are people good enough at walking that line to have the best of both worlds.

This 43-year-old husband is one who had the best of both worlds until he didn’t.  His wife, who has been with him for 20 years and married to him for 6, sent him packing when she learned he was cheating on her.

The real punch to the gut was the fact that he had cheated on her with her son’s 25-year-old girlfriend.  It turns out mom’s uneasy feeling about her son’s girlfriend had been right all along.

The woman starts off the story by telling about her husband’s drug use.  He was arrested two months into their marriage and sentenced to drug rehabilitation.  Long story short, after repeatedly relapsing, he found himself in a jail rehabilitation facility.

While that was going on, the woman’s son was busy paying for his girlfriend’s college education.  She developed doubts about his girlfriend and thought that she would leave at some point.

“I just kind of felt like she wasn’t all that into him.  He was paying for her college because he felt like this was an investment into their future together,” the woman wrote on Reddit.  “She graduated college with her associates degree and I felt at anytime the bomb was going to drop that she was leaving him.”

By the time her son’s girlfriend graduated, she and her husband were going through a rough patch.  She said, “He wasn’t finishing up his stuff for the rehabilitation.  He wasn’t working, and I kind of felt like he was hiding something.”

Thinking that he was using drugs again, she tried digging through his text messages and emails.  She didn’t find anything and then one morning she got a call from her son.  He wanted to talk, and he didn’t want his stepdad to know about it.

“What happened in the next hour would destroy my entire family.  I get into the car and my son says where should we go to talk privately,” she continues.  “My son stops the car and says mom, my girlfriend and my step dad are cheating with each other.”

This is obviously tough news for her to digest.  Apparently, the son had found emails between the two that said things about how funny it would be if they left their significant others to be together.

The girlfriend would meet up with the stepdad while the boyfriend and his mom were at work.  The girlfriend would come up with excuses to visit them just to see the stepdad.  I know exactly what you’re thinking right now – that’s love.  Indeed, it is.

The heartbroken wife kicked her husband out.  Shortly after that, her son kicked his girlfriend to the curb and guess what happened.  The stepdad and her son’s now ex-girlfriend moved into an apartment together.

The divorce has been filed, but at the end of the day, love wins.  These two left some serious damage behind, but they get to be with one another until one of them gets bored and the cycle repeats.  Talk about true romance.

Tinder matches moved in together four weeks after they met

After chaos and broken hearts, we turn to a story of love at first sight thanks to the dating app Tinder.  It is true using the app could and has gone horribly wrong for some.

But it’s worth taking the chance if, like these two, 29-year-old Kelsey Shutts and her husband, 39-year-old James, you find the one and are moving in together after just four weeks.

This is what people are looking for when they fire up these apps.  The two found each other in May 2020 when everyone was at the beginning of losing their damn minds thanks to the pandemic.

They did the whole quarantine for two weeks, you don’t want to get grandma sick, before going on their first date at an Italian restaurant in Tampa.  It was love at first sight after the two locked eyes.

They set up another date two days later and four weeks after meeting they were living together.  Four months in they were buying a house together in Georgia.

The kids from previous relationships met their parents’ new love interests and in December 2021, James proposed in Chicago.  They then had two wedding ceremonies in 2022.  One for their kids and parents and one for friends and other family in Italy.

“After he sent me the video, I knew I had met my future husband,” reports the NY Post.  “I had never believed in love at first sight until I saw him – I thought it was an exaggeration.”

“He was the most handsome man I’d ever seen in my life.  This is the first time I have felt loved and accepted by someone.”

James had a similar experience.  He said, “The whole love at first sight, hit me like a wave of ecstasy.  A total out-of-body experience I had never encountered before.”

“I was in my living room with my friend, swiping through a dating app, thinking this was never gonna happen for me like I was being punished for all my past mistakes, and then bam there she was.”

He continued, “She was the most beautiful woman I’d ever laid eyes on, took my breath away and my heart was racing out of my chest.”

That’s a really nice story.  It’s one that we’re not going to ruin for them with everything that could go wrong.

Let’s let them enjoy the good times while the good times are rolling before something like one of them ending up with one of their kid’s significant others.

That’s all for this week.  Send over your stories of true romance and your comments to sean.joseph@outkick.com.
