According to the autopsy report released by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, Perry passed away from an overdose in his hot tub at his home on October 28, 2023. The report indicated that the overdose was caused by the acute effects of ketamine, with contributing factors such as drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine.

The investigation has delved into the origins of the ketamine involved in Perry’s death. In collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Postal Inspector, the LAPD has been working to determine how the ketamine, which played a part in the actor’s passing, ended up in his possession.

This quest to uncover the source of the drug has involved interviews with key individuals in Hollywood who are known to have a history of drug use or abuse. Additionally, the authorities have been scrutinizing Perry’s activities leading up to his death, including his interactions on the dating app Raya and the delivery of illicit drugs to his residence.

Perry’s struggles with addiction were well-documented, with his tell-all memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, shedding light on his journey toward sobriety. The investigation also revealed that, despite having a nursing team and a live-in sober companion at his residence, Perry managed to obtain drugs through casual hook-ups, a fact that highlights the complexity of addiction and relapse.

Sources close to the investigation disclosed that the ketamine in Perry’s system at the time of his death could not have originated from his therapeutic use, and its level was akin to that administered in hospitals to anesthetize patients. It was suggested that Perry had become hooked on the drug after being prescribed it for therapeutic use to treat depression, ultimately succumbing to the allure of its dissociative effects.

As the investigation persists and draws closer to a conclusion, the question of accountability and the potential charges facing ‘multiple people’ remains a focal point. The findings not only illuminate the tragic outcome experienced by Perry but also serve as a cautionary reminder of the perilous grasp of addiction.
