Look at this: A dude was driving down the freeway in Atlanta on Friday when he noticed something a little off about the Budget truck in front of him.

On June 21, officers stopped the vehicle on Interstate 85 Northbound near Sugarloaf Parkway, according to Gwinnett PD.

According to police, inside the truck were two families, totaling eight people, including two juveniles. Contrary to the video’s implication, they were not tied up or in distress, police say.

The individuals appeared healthy and willingly spoke with officers, explaining that they were traveling from Alabama to Maryland for a new job opportunity. Their personal belongings were also in the truck.

That sounds like something you’d do if you were, say, from Venezuela.

Just two everyday American families. Nothing to see here.

And if these people were some of the millions and millions and millions of border hoppers that have poured into America the last 3 years, I have some questions about the statement that they aren’t being trafficked.

It’s true that most of the (adult) illegals pouring into America are doing so of their own will. It’s also true that they are doing so out of desperation with assistance from cartels and foreign governments that they are indebted to. For example, a young girl might have been placed by the cartels with a “sponsor” who is quietly pimping her out as a child prostitute.

A young man might have to go and work where a cartel wants him to and pay them back if he wants his family back home to not be killed. A family might be told to move to Maryland for a “job opportunity” that involves working for little to no money for the cartels.

The “families” might even be traffickers posing as parents in order to move children from one place to another.

All of these things are forms of human slavery and trafficking. It’s just that the traffickers are smart enough not to clap people in chains these days. There are far easier ways to keep people on a rope in this digital world.

(Plus, the US government is doing most of the heavy lifting for them.)

Of course, this could be two immigrant families that are here legally and are just riding in the back of a truck because that’s what most of the developing world does without a second thought.

The truck driver was cited for allowing the occupants to ride in the back without seatbelts. Officers transported the occupants to a local business where they could arrange alternate transportation to Maryland.

Currently, there is no evidence of human trafficking related to this incident, Gwinnett County PD said.
