Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao fell back on the left’s favorite boogeyman outside of Russia, blaming a “radical right-wing” conspiracy for her latest legal troubles.

In Oakland, no less. As comical as that may sound, the Democrat further suggested that the FBI was induced to act because of these “right-wing forces.”

Thao was the subject of an FBI raid on her home last week but said in a press conference Monday that she has nothing to hide.

“I want to be crystal clear. I have done nothing wrong,” the mayor said. “I can tell you with confidence that this investigation is not about me. I have not been charged with a crime, and I’m confident that I won’t be charged with a crime because I am innocent.”

On that note, federal authorities have not released any details about the raid or revealed who the subject of the investigation is.

“I want to know what probable cause the FBI has. What evidence have they collected that justifies raiding the home of a sitting mayor without notice and without the courtesy of a conversation,” Thao said of the bureau raid. “I want to know more about the handful of billionaires from San Francisco and Piedmont who are hell-bent on running me out of office. I want to know why the day following the qualification of a recall election, funded by some of the richest people in the Bay Area, seemed like the right day to execute a warrant.”

In continuing to establish herself as the victim, a defiant Thao proclaimed that she, too, is “seeking the truth.”

“I’m seeking the truth right now just as much as you all are. I will not be bullied and I will not be disparaged and I will not be threatened out of this office,” Thao said. “There are a lot of radical right-wing forces who know they will never win an election in Oakland fair and square. They know their extreme views are at odds with our Oakland values.”

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk shared a hint of what the raid may be about, saying reports suggest it could be “connected to a recycling contractor believed to be funneling money to politicians.”

Unfortunately for the mayor, social media users are not picking up the jive that she is putting down.
