Things got a little tense Monday on Fox News’ popular late afternoon program The Five, when cohost Jeanine Pirro clashed with co-host Richard Fowler, who was filling the liberal seat at the table.

The quintet was discussing the murder — and likely rape — of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was found strangled to death in a Houston creek. Two illegal aliens have been arrested and charged with capital murder. One of the suspects had only been in the U.S. for about three weeks at the time of the crime, while the other man had been here for several months — both men entered the country illegally and were ultimately released by the Border Patrol.

Pirro was quick to take issue with Fowler seemingly trying to suggest the child’s horrific death was an exception and not a representation of the poor migrant mother and her infant child seeking a better life — in large part, at the expense of U.S. taxpayers. Never mind that there have been a number of recent cases of illegal immigrants being charged with raping and, in at least one other case murdering young girls. There was also a recent case of a mother of five being raped and murdered.

“These suspects, if they’re found guilty, the whole book should be thrown at them,” Fowler said. “This is heinous–”

“Death penalty?” Pirro chimed in.

“Sure,” Fowler replied. “But I think that we also, too, in this country, we believe in nuance and bright lines. And I think there’s a clear bright line between these two individuals that you’re watching on your screen and an infant that crosses the border with their mother… they did not make the choice to cross. They crossed with their family and now all they wanna do is assimilate–”

Pirro was having no part of allowing Fowler to pivot away from the topic and start talking about illegal immigrant minors known as DREAMers.

“We’re not talking about Dreamers. We’re talking about illegals,” she interrupted.

As Fowler protested, she added, “We’re not talking about Dreamers. We’re talking about violent crime!”

“I did not interrupt you,” Fowler countered before the cohosts began talking over one another.

When Pirro accused him of pivoting away from the topic at hand, Fowler fired back, “I’m not changing the subject!”

He proceeded to say that in order to fix the problem of a broken immigration system, America has “to be courageous as a country, whether you are a Democrat or a Republican.”

The problem is that Democrats are exploiting for political power an immigration system that they’re largely responsible for breaking. Under President Joe Biden, the illegal immigration population in America has doubled in just over three years. Real courage would be to deport them all, stop the manipulation of U.S. asylum laws, and seal the border to reestablish the rule of law — which is currently resulting in a million LEGAL immigrants annually.
