Multiple people shot during Juneteenth celebration in Oakland

Well, happy Juneteenth to Oakland, where a massive shootout took place DURING a Juneteenth celebration last night around 8 p.m. — the second time in three years that this has happened.

Fights had broken out after one of those illegal sideshows where people do tricks with their cars, motorcycles, and ATVs, and this is apparently what led to the gunfire.

Four people have been shot and are currently being treated for their injuries. Their condition is unknown at the moment, but from this next video it seems a few were in critical condition.

I’ll show you the tape, but I gotta tell you it’s pretty nasty.

We all came out here to celebrate our culture, our freedom. You see people are still out here singing and dancing; this is not fun.

Just two or three years ago this happened and it seems to be a repeating cycle. [There] needs to be some kind of change to the community, but I pray for the people who might have been lost.

Celebrating their culture on Juneteenth and then a shootout breaks out following an illegal sideshow of cars doing dangerous stunts.

Not to mention the fact that just three years ago in 2021 during Juneteenth, we saw a 22-year-old killed and 6 wounded during this same event at the same location.

So we can celebrate the emancipation of slaves until the cows come home, sure, but until we stop seeing people murdered in the streets during these celebrations, Juneteenth just won’t mean as much as it should to the black community. Not only that, but people who think the holiday is bogus in the first place will continue to mock the holiday for showing what black culture in our big cities has unfortunately become.
