You can take some people out of the hood but it’s not so easy to take the hood out of them.

The ugly flare-up during a House Oversight Committee hearing last month when Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Jasmine Crocket (D-TX) exchanged verbal blows came very close to an actual fistfight.

At least that’s the way that Crockett tells it in an interview with a British media outlet, saying that her “Squad” sister Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) was ready to go full street thug on the GOP lawmaker, a brawl that could have easily gotten out of hand given the ghetto instincts of some congressional Democrats.

“When AOC jumped in so quickly, what people didn’t see off camera was that Ayanna Pressley was ready to jump in and stood up and… it was gonna get into a fight,” Crockett told The Independent, referring to the attention-addicted New York City diva who inserted herself into the contentious back and forth.

The action went down at the hearing to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt, an already heated day with emotions running hot as Democrats defended the partisan Justice Department head and Greene jabbed Crockett over her “fake eyelashes,” prompting the Texas congresswoman to insult her GOP colleague as having a “bleach blonde, bad-built butch body” as the hearing careened out of control and AOC inserted herself.

“Oh! Girl, baby, girl! Don’t even play!” the attention-seeking former bartender told Greene as tensions came very close to boiling over to the point where Crockett claimed that an actual brawl was close to erupting.

Pressley, a charter member of “The Squad” would have jumped in to defend her leader by going thug on Greene and it’s anyone’s guess how things could have further deteriorated, and who else might also have jumped the Republican lawmaker in a throwback to the rough and tumble old days of Congress when fisticuffs and worse would at times break out among members.

According to History.com: “The Senate had just adjourned on May 22, 1856, when Representative Preston Brooks entered its chamber carrying a cane. The pro-slavery southerner walked over to Senator Charles Sumner, whacked him in the head with the cane, and then proceeded to beat the anti-slavery northerner unconscious. Afterward, Brooks walked out of the chamber without anyone stopping him.”

Crockett accused Greene of using a “racist trope” during a post-incident appearance on CNN because, with the DEI Democrats, everything always has to be about race and victimhood.

“I think her specifically doing it to me, yes, that was the intent as has been stated, women wear makeup, we wear lashes, we wear all types of things to beautify ourselves,” she told Jake Tapper. “But MAGA has historically been on social media doing the things where they’re saying, ‘Oh, she’s black with lashes and nails and hair, and so she’s ghetto.’ And so, to me, this was her buying into that rhetoric and trying to amplify this for the MAGA crowd. And so, yeah, I absolutely think that she only did it to be racist towards me.”

“The bigger story that kind of emerged from this was what women of color face at work,” Crockett told The Independent. “When you’re by yourself, people take liberties, but when they realize that you’re not by yourself, it definitely puts them in a different light and puts them in a different stance.”
