Dr. Anthony Fauci and “The View” co-hosts had a giggle at former President Donald Trump’s expense as they discussed COVID-19 pandemic memories.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who worked in the Trump administration during the pandemic era recounted to Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, that she told then-President Trump he should mask up during the pandemic because he “looked cool.”

Fauci was on hand to promote a book while the co-hosts fawned over him, and he puffed himself up for being a brave soul who had to deal with Trump while they all yukked it up about the former president.

“It was very painful for me. I have a great deal of respect for the presidency of the United States of America. I’ve served seven presidents so it wasn’t like, ‘wow, isn’t this cool that I’m contradicting the president,’ it was very, very painful, but I had to do it,” Fauci boasted.

Fauci felt Trump had a “missed opportunity” to reach Americans when it came time to recommend people should wear masks as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had done.

“And when he got up and said, ‘Well, it’s a recommendation but I’m not going to do it. I chose not to do it,’ I considered that a missed opportunity to use the bully pulpit of the presidency to get people to do things that was for their own safety,” Fauci complained.

“You know, he has millions and millions of followers who are very loyal to him. All he had to do was say, ‘The CDC is recommending masks, we know it’s going to save lives. Do it!’ And — and he missed an opportunity,” he added.

“I remember telling him he looked cool in the mask,” Griffin said to everyone’s amusement.

“I remember, yeah!” Fauci exclaimed.

“I thought might he might be like, ‘okay, fine, I’ll wear it.’ It didn’t work,” Griffin recounted.

“Nice try, Alyssa,” Fauci responded with a laugh.

Nice try, all as a matter of fact since the repeated digs at Trump seemed to backfire with many on social media.
