A pair of “Just Stop Oil” activists have been arrested after breaking into an airport and damaging private jets.

Jennifer Kowalski, 28, and Cole Macdonald, 22, allegedly used a power tool to cut a hole in the fence surrounding the Stansted Airport in Essex. Once they had gained access, they sprayed orange paint all over two private jets. It didn’t take long for Just Stop Oil to accept blame for the incident, incorrectly claiming that superstar Taylor Swift’s private jet had been parked at the airfield at the time. This was refuted by the airport.

A video taken by the two shows Macdonald admitting to being “the one behind” the painting of the jets, as the pair giggles over the damage they’ve caused.

“We need an international treaty against the burning of all oil, coal, and gas,” Macdonald said in a separate video. “While people are starving, the elite and the rich fly thousands and thousands of feet in the air, above us all. Billionaires are not untouchable.”

The duo found out they weren’t untouchable either when police cuffed them on suspicion of criminal damage.

Chief Superintendant of the Essex Police, Simon Anslow gave a reassuring statement to the public following the arrests.

“I would like to reassure passengers and the wider public that we are well prepared and resourced to deal with incidents of this nature,” he said. “Almost immediately after we were made aware of this incident, which took place away from the main passenger terminal, we were on the scene. We maintain a constant presence at the airport and this presence will be heightened over the summer period. We have a good working relationship with Manchester Airport Group and Stansted Airport to ensure you can go about your travels with minimal impact.”

“We are not anti-protest but we will always take action where criminal acts take place,” he reiterated.

According to the Daily Mail, Kowalski is a former Swiftie who, along with her sister, was actually able to meet the pop icon at her 2015 show in Glasgow. They had matching Taylor Swift-themed outfits and even lifted the performer in the air for a photo. But apparently there is “bad blood” between the two now after Swift was revealed to have some of the highest private jet carbon emissions in 2022, something Kowalski won’t stand for.

Swift is reportedly currently in the UK for her record-shattering Eras Tour, and from the sounds of it, she may want to hide her jet.
