Here’s New York Governor Hochul declaring a state emergency for [checks notes] summer.

Here’s the forecast for New York City, NY, for reference.

It’s going to be a scorcher, but it’s not a “the planet is on fire” scorcher.

Here are some of my favorite moments from the video to show what I mean:

  1. It’s not a natural hot weather stretch for New York. There hasn’t been a summer in New York when temperatures didn’t get over 90 degrees … Unless you count 1816, when Mount Tambora’s eruption triggered the year without summer.

  2. Temperatures will be at levels we have not seen in our lifetimes. Let’s check. Hochul was born in 1958. Just four years later in 1962, the temperature in mid June hit 93 degrees: exactly the same as forecasted now.

  3. But the temperature “Feels like” it’s over 100 degrees. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m getting tired of these climate nut jobs pushing the Heat Index like it’s the real temperature just because the climate won’t cooperate and set the Earth on fire already. In that 1962 scenario above, the humidity was 3 points higher than forecasted during the emergency. So, temps back then “felt” even hotter.

  4. She’s activating the National Guard to help. There it is! Nothing says it’s a real emergency quite like soldiers on the streets.

  5. She’s issuing an air quality alert because 1 year ago there were wildfires in Canada, and you shouldn’t forget about that. I’m paraphrasing, but not as much as my sanity would like. Also, since the media says it’s all misinformation, don’t go looking up how arsonists play into it.

Now, I’m not at all suggesting that people shouldn’t take heat seriously.

Heat stroke is no joke.

But New York has always dealt with the exact same heat issues.

Here’s an old advisory from the Left’s least favorite former mayor, Rudy Giuliani, to New York City about how to deal with heat in 1999.

And this photo of kids cooling off during a 12-day stint above 90º in 1953:

Or the heatwave of 1936 that left over 5,000 people dead:

And this newspaper clipping from the New York Daily Times in 1852:

Feel free to beat the heat – just don’t give into climate propaganda while you do!
