Fox News border correspondent Bill Melugin reported a “jaw-dropping” number of “non-detained” cases that ICE agents are currently stuck with due to President Biden’s catch-and-release policies.

“Non-detained” cases are illegal migrants who have been released into the country with a court date, sometimes years in the future, or migrants who have been ordered to leave but remain in the country.

According to Melugin, ICE is completely understaffed and overwhelmed.

“We got our hands on some brand new internal ICE data — it’s jaw-dropping and shows just how overwhelmed ICE is right now,” Melugin reported on Monday.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Mark Green (R-IN) issued a statement on the staggering number, saying “Would-be border crossers around the world are making a bet that if they cross under this administration, they will be released into the interior. These numbers show that’s usually a winning wager.”

Texas Rep. Chip Roy shared the story on X, saying “We’ve known this is coming. Yet here we are. We either mean what we say that we must secure the border & stop a government weaponized against us – or, talk a lot & primary / oppose those who do… #TakeBackAmerica #DetainTurnawayDeport.”
