Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) continues to embrace antisemitism as he plummets in the polls against Democratic primary challenger George Latimer. In a recent interview, Bowman said he refused to sign a resolution condemning Hamas because it referred to the October 7th attack on Israel as “unprovoked.”

“One of the first lines [of the resolution] was ‘condemn Hamas for this unprovoked attack.’ And I stopped reading at that point,” Bowman said. “If we’re calling this an unprovoked attack, that means we’re going to ignore 18 human rights organizations calling Israel an apartheid state.”

“There was no way in the world, especially based on what I’ve learned over the last few years in Congress that I was going to support what Israel was doing right now,” he continued. “Now, I am not justifying the killing of civilians by Hamas on Oct. 7th,” he added. “There’s no justification. It’s just an explanation of what the circumstances were that led to Oct. 7th. And I believed then, and I believe now, if you want to end extremism, we need a free Palestine.”

Jacob N. Kornbluh, a reporter for the Jewish news outlet The Forward, shared the clip of Bowman’s interview online, saying “Bowman — after suggesting w/o evidence that Netanyahu wants to move all Palestinians out of Gaza to annex the Strip to Israel — adds: ‘So don’t talk to me about, you know, a two-state solution when we’re not doing anything to build a Palestinian state.’”
