Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz was in several heated exchanges with Attorney General Merrick Garland during Tuesday’s House Judiciary Committee’s annual oversight hearing.

Gaetz went after Garland for the lawfare waged against former President Trump.

“Attorney General, you’ve told us it’s a dangerous conspiracy theory to allege that the Department of Justice is communicating with these state and local prosecutions against Trump. You can clear it up for us right now: will the Department of Justice provide to the committee all documents, all correspondence between the department and Alvin Bragg’s office, Fani Willis’ office, and Letitia James’ office?” Gaetz asked Garland in one fiery moment.

“The offices you’re referring to are independent offices of state ——” Garland began.

“I get that! I get that! The question is whether you will provide all your documents and correspondence — that’s the question. I don’t need a history lesson,’ Gaetz fired back.

Garland tried once more to avoid answering.

“The question is whether you communicate with them — not, whether you control them,” Gaetz said, taking the energy up another notch.

Gaetz also went after Garland over the controversial career decision of Matthew Colangelo. Colangelo went from being the Assistant AG in D.C. to working in NYC DA Alvin Bragg’s office on the Trump trial.
