The IDF has finally taken complete control of the Philadelphia corridor on the border of Gaza and Egypt and have now located nearly two dozen tunnels, most of which go into Egypt.

The IDF spokesman for the Arab media wrote this:

During recent days, IDF forces were able to achieve operational control over the #Philadelphia_Axis on the border between Egypt and Rafah.

The Philadelphia Corridor was used as an oxygen artery for Hamas, which it used to permanently smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip.

Along the axis, our forces found dozens of missile platforms ready to be launched and launching pits used by Hamas to launch rockets and mortar shells towards Israeli territory.

Hamas took advantage of the Philadelphia Axis and established its infrastructure a few tens of meters away from the Egyptian border so that it would not be targeted.

In recent weeks, Hamas fired about 70 rocket and mortar shells from the Rafah area.

So far, our forces on the Philadelphia Axis have found about 20 tunnels in the Philadelphia Axis area, and we are studying and thwarting them.

I’m surprised this only happened now, but I’m glad because it is absolutely necessary to defeat Hamas. The question is how many Hamas escaped through these tunnels before Israel got control of them.
