Apparently, Sleepy Joe is a devout Catholic. So much so that he was denied communion. But actions speak louder than words. And when you stop a Catholic service organization from holding its decades-long tradition of a Memorial Day mass at a national cemetery TWICE, it doesn’t take a genius to wonder if this is blatant religious discrimination.

Last year, the National Park Service (NPS) denied the Knights of Columbus a permit at the Poplar Grove National Cemetery even though they have been holding the service for 60 years. This year, history repeated itself. But this time, the “blatant violation of the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA)” won’t be tolerated.

According to Fox News:

Attorneys for the Knights of Columbus filed a motion for a temporary restraining order against the National Park Service (NPS) in Petersburg, Virginia, on Tuesday, after officials refused to grant a permit for the religious service at the Poplar Grove National Cemetery.

This is the second year in a row the religious group has been denied a permit at the cemetery where they had been holding the Memorial Day mass for the past 60 years.

“The policy and the decision blocking the Knights of Columbus from continuing their long-standing religious tradition is a blatant violation of the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA),” McGuireWoods partner John Moran, who is suing the NPS on behalf of the Knights, said in a press release. “We urge the court to grant our restraining order and allow the Knights to hold their service this Memorial Day.”

Sounds like blatant religious discrimination to me.

An official with the national park that manages the cemetery defended the permit denial in a statement to The Washington Times.

“National Cemeteries are established as national shrines in tribute to those who have died in service to our country, and as such any special activities within the cemetery are reserved for a limited set of official commemorative activities that have a connection to military service or have a historic and commemorative significance for the particular national cemetery,” Alexa Viets, superintendent of the Petersburg National Battlefield, told the Times.

What total nonsense. The group wants to hold a service for Catholic people who lost their lives defending this country and the NPS is totally out of line here.

Why does it always seem like the Biden Admin prioritizes infringing on religious freedom? It really seems as if every week there’s at least one lawsuit accusing Sleepy Joe’s bureaucracy of violating the rights of Americans.

Just think about it. A group of peaceful demonstrators, not fiery but most peaceful, but peaceful, want to gather, maybe sing some songs, show their respects for those who died while serving in the Armed Forces, and then leave the place probably cleaner than when they arrived, are not allowed to hold their services because it has no “significance” to “the particular national cemetery.” What a load of crap.

This is a voluntary event and the government has no right to deny them their permit but it appears they have no other choice as they promote their blatant disdain for military personnel who died in service.
