In what not only proves what sore losers Democrats are but screams just how polluted Washington, D.C., is with screaming left-wing ideologues, some food service workers are vowing to make life hell for some members of the incoming Trump administration.
The Washingtonian cited previous incidents during President Trump’s first term, including former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders being “kicked out” of the Red Hen in Lexington, Virginia, to say “the MAGA crowd is likely to feel even more omnipresent when they swagger into DC.”
The outlet quotes Zac Hoffman, a manager at the National Democratic Club, who said: “The shift in politics will be visceral across several aspects of daily life. You expect the masses to just ignore RFK eating at Le Diplomate on a Sunday morning after a few mimosas and not to throw a drink in his face?”
“If you’re just going out for a nice dinner or it’s your anniversary or birthday and, God forbid, RFK Jr. is sitting next to you, now you’re going to be dealing with whatever repercussions happen from that,” he added.
Stopping just short of issuing a call to action, the article bemoans that “there’s been plenty of talk about the Trump resistance losing steam” since the election.
A fine-dining bartender identified as Nancy spoke to the Washingtonian, showcasing just how petty and shallow she can be while barking about “taking our power back.”
“This person theoretically has the power to take away your rights, but I have the power to make you wait 20 minutes to get your entrée,” Nancy is quoted. “There’s a lot of opportunities for us as workers to feel like we’re taking our power back, while not necessarily ruining someone’s life. Giving them a subtle inconvenience feels like a little bit of a win for us.”
The purported bartender said she would even quit her job “on the spot” if forced to serve certain Trump officials.
“There is power in making it known that you’re not comfortable with a situation, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be this big dramatic show,” she said. “It’s just little bits of resistance that add up and little bits of resistance that other people will see and hopefully feel empowered to stand on those convictions as well.”
Suzannah Van Rooy, a server and manager at Beuchert’s Saloon on Capitol Hill, told the outlet she would refuse service to Trump officials who don’t share her moral views on the world.
“I personally would refuse to serve any person in office who I know of as being a sex trafficker or trying to deport millions of people,” she said. “It’s not, ‘Oh, we hate Republicans.’ It’s that this person has moral convictions that are strongly opposed to mine, and I don’t feel comfortable serving them.”
How Van Rooy manages to stay employed after that remains a mystery — or speaks volumes about the establishment.
A smart bartender acknowledged that while he didn’t like the election outcome Republicans tip much better than Democrats and are not as disruptive, which comes as no surprise.
“I think my tip average from Republicans—at least ones that I or a coworker has recognized—is close to 30 percent. With Dems, I’m surprised if it’s over 20,” bartender Joseph told the Washingtonian.
Of course, the food and beverage industry operates on a tight margin and few establishments can ill afford to reject large swaths of people based on their political beliefs. For the most part, the industry is renowned for its professionalism, which extends not only to the preparation of the food but the service itself. At least, establishments worth frequenting do.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
The fascist wing of the Democrat party are at it again.

Well, restaurant people, it’s not legal to discriminate based on political beliefs. So have at it & find yourselves sued.

It’s going to be hard to pay your bills when you won’t serve the party in power. Instead of no tax on tips they will experience no tips.

Let them fold up then. Let them identify themselves so no republicans including visitors to DC gives them their hard earned money. It’s that simple.

So, should D.C. require some kind of identifier for all potential restaurant patrons? You know, like maybe a yellow star sewn on the lapel of the jacket? Wouldn’t want Trump supporters accidentally getting served would you?
