President Joe Biden spent his last Thanksgiving as president on Nantucket, which is a family tradition, and he took a few questions from the media while visiting firefighters on the tiny island.
In what could only be seen as a loaded question from a shamelessly anti-Trump reporter, Biden was asked if he had a message for Americans “worried about the future this holiday season.”
“My message is to just remember who we are. Look, you’ll have a very tough job. I’m not being solicitous, a really tough job,” the president said, speaking of the media. “Think about it… I remember a couple weeks ago that surveyed done how people they feel about where they are, 62 percent felt they’re doing pretty well. Asked what they about the direction of the country, only 35 percent said we’re moving in the right direction. I think there is an explanation for that.”

“What do you — and it’s not a criticism of the press. I mean, you know me too well. You turn on the television, you don’t see a lot of good news,” Biden continued. “Even the stuff that is good news doesn’t seem to sell very well. And so, if you turn on the TV, everything looks bad.”
In effect, Biden was blaming the media for people being unsatisfied with the direction of the country.
“Everything looks bad. And now you have — you forget what the numbers are. And you’ve seen the small number of people watching mainstream television and reading the newspapers. Forget the numbers. You need to know better than I do. And you’re way down,” he said. “So, where do you get your news? What’s happening? Not because of you.”
“I’m not being critical of the press,” Biden continued. “I’ve talked to too many of you privately. You’ve been around a long time. And you’re going to help each other. I mean, you know, I don’t think — I want to make sure this transition goes smoothly.”

Biden said of what to expect from Trump that “there may be a little bit of internal reckoning on his part… So it remains to be seen.”
