The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday imposed a $6 million fine against Steven Kramer, a political consultant, for using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to mimic President Joe Biden’s voice in robocalls that advised voters not to cast ballots in New Hampshire’s Democratic primary.

Kramer, a Louisiana Democratic political consultant who worked for Rep. Dean Phillips ran in the primary against Biden, was indicted for his actions in New Hampshire in May

Phillips has distanced himself from the calls.

“I’m disgusted that a consultant hired to assist my campaign with ballot access is alleged to have faked a robocall impersonating Joe Biden. While I don’t know the person in question, such behavior is despicable and I trust will be investigated by authorities, the Minnesota congressman wrote on social media in February.
