Melania Trump Says ‘Miracles’ Saved Her Husband’s Life

It was divine intervention that saved former President Donald Trump from two recent attempts on his life, according to his wife.

“I think both of the events, they were really miracles if you really think about it,” former First Lady Melania Trump told Fox & Friends in an interview that aired on Sept. 26.

Reflecting on the July 13 rally in Pennsylvania, where a bullet clipped the former president’s right ear, she noted that if he had turned his head “that much” in the wrong direction, “he could not be with us.”

When the former first lady received word of the shooting, she was working and had the rally paused on the TV in the background.

“I ran to the TV, and I rewind it, and I watched it,” she said, noting that she was only a few minutes behind.

She attributed her not witnessing the attack live to something “look[ing] over” her.

Seeing her husband on the ground and not knowing what had happened, Melania Trump tried calling his phone. There was no answer.

The Secret Service was also unavailable at first. When she eventually made contact, they were transporting the former president to the hospital. At that point, she was able to speak with him and confirm he was alright.

Melania Trump also described her first conversation with her son, Barron, about the attack.

“He was outside playing sports, and he rushed in, and [it] was very, very difficult,” she said.

Weeks later, on Sept. 15, the former first lady was in New York when she learned via media reports of a second apparent assassination attempt against her husband while he was playing golf at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

“As I saw it on television, I called again, and he was OK because Secret Service were great. The guys that they were with him, they were fantastic,” she said.

But she added that she thinks perhaps someone else may be protecting her husband, too.

“I think something was watching over him,” she said. “I think … it’s almost like [the] country really needs him.”

“That maybe God’s sparing his life?” host Ainsley Earhardt asked.

“Yes,” Melania Trump said.

As for why her husband is being targeted, the former first lady said she did not find it particularly surprising, given the current political climate.

“Is it really shocking that all this egregious violence goes against my husband—especially that we hear the leaders from the opposition party and mainstream media branding him as a threat to democracy, calling him vile names?” she asked.

“They [are] only fueling a toxic atmosphere and giving power [to] all of these people that they want to do harm to him. This needs to stop. … The country needs to unite.”

The interview marked the former first lady’s first in two years and was in promotion of her new memoir, “Melania.”
