Fox News host Bret Baier called out former President Donald Trump for being a debate “holdup.”

Baier joined radio host Hugh Hewitt, saying he believes Vice President Kamala Harris would agree to attend a debate hosted by Fox News, and blaming Trump for blocking that opportunity.

Hewitt asked Baier what the “latest” news on a potential Fox debate was, and if there’s any hope of seeing one before the November election.

“The latest is, I actually believe – this is me talking – that the Harris campaign would do a Fox debate, it’s the… the former president has come to the conclusion that there really shouldn’t be another debate,” Baier claimed. “Now, his reasoning? Don’t know. I always thought it would be like a bug zapper in the backyard for the former president in that he couldn’t get away from the light of 70 million viewers in that he would have to, eventually, knowing him, you know do it if it was on Fox and something he could agree to.”

“I’m getting the sense from him and the campaign that they are moving past it, and really the holdup is not the Harris campaign and Fox, it’s the former president.”

“Well I am going to throw in my two cents, he ought to sit down if it’s you and Martha [MacCallum] because it will be fair,” Hewitt suggested. “It’ll be the same format that they used in the first two, but just fair questions. And you’re no pushover, and Martha’s no pushover for anyone, but it’s got to be fair and the ABC thing left a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn’t do another network unless it was you and Martha.”

“I hope that’s the case. You know, if it’s not, Hugh, I do think that it’s a missed opportunity,” Baier agreed. “I do know that we are offering town halls with Martha and I too, and I just think a debate format is a better deal.”
