Israel is “extensively striking” southern Lebanon after discovering plans by the Iranian-backed militia organization Hezbollah for a possible rocket attack on Israeli territory “within a short time frame,” according to Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, reports CNN.

The Israeli airstrikes Saturday are among the most intense since Hezbollah started firing rockets into northern Israel last year following the October 7 attack into Israel by the Iranian-backed terrorist organization, Hamas, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping about 250 more, leading to the war in Gaza that has continued since then.

As a result, the Israeli government is restricting outdoor activities and has launched emergency guidelines for civilians.

“It is possible that within a short time frame, rockets and additional threats will be launched into Israel,” Hagari said.

“We ask you to follow the Home Front Command guidelines. We’re going through days of combat, so it’s important to remain alerted,” he continued.

The outdoor gatherings can only have up to 30 people and indoor gatherings are limited to 300 people.

Israel recently conducted a strike in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese health minister said 82 people were killed.
