The country music star Morgan Wallen had quite a day on Thursday. First, he was sentenced to seven days at a DUI education center months after he was arrested for throwing a chair off the roof of a bar in Nashville, Tennessee.

Then, just hours later, he won four awards at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards.

Wallen Sentenced To Incarceration

Wallen, 31, was arrested on April 7 after throwing a chair from the roof of Eric Church’s Chief’s Bar. He was charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. Yesterday, Wallen pleaded conditionally guilty due to judicial diversion.

Judge Cynthia Chappell sentenced Wallen to seven days at a DUI education center. After that, he will be under two years of supervised probation. Wallen must also pay a $350 fine and court fees. He will have his charges eligible for dismissal and expungement if he completes the terms of his probation.

“Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months, directly communicating and apologizing to all involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation,” Wallen’s attorney Worrick Robinson IV told People Magazine.

Some time in a DUI education center might be good for Wallen, according to those close to him.

“Morgan is generally a nice, fun person to hang out with, but when he gets going he doesn’t know when to stop,” one insider said after Wallen’s arrest. “Morgan and alcohol is a problem and it’s been a problem that keeps coming back around.”

Wallen Wins At The 2024 Billboard Music Awards

Despite all of this, Wallen still won big at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on Thursday night. Indeed, he took home the awards for top country artist, top male artist, top country male artist, and top collaboration for his song “I Had Some Help,” with Post Malone.

In his pre-recorded acceptance speech, Wallen told his fans how grateful he is that they always give his music a “chance.”

“I just wanted to say thank you guys for everyone who’s supported me along my journey and, as always, most importantly, thank you to my fans,” Wallen said. “You guys have just given me so much freedom to make music that I want to make.”

Wallen’s Previous Run-Ins With The Law

Fans have already stuck by Wallen through his previous run-ins with the law. Back in 2020, he was arrested on public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges. Wallen also spent thirty days in treatment the next year after he was caught on camera using a racial slur following a drunken night out with friends.

“I’ve not ever been the one to follow the rules as much as some people,” Wallen said that year. No kidding!

Wallen is one of the most talented country music stars in the industry today. Here’s hoping that he puts his time in this DUI education center to good use and gets his life back on track!
