While President-elect Donald Trump stormed the nation and inspired Americans to make him the 47th president, his wife Melania Trump has taken a more private role in life. This has led many to wonder if she will be living a separate life while her husband leads the country for the second time.

The former first lady has scaled back her public presence as the couple’s son, Barron Trump, finished high school and moved on to the next phase of life. During his interview with TIME Magazine for his Person of the Year 2024 profile, Trump finally confirmed whether his wife would be at the White House with him following his inauguration in January.

“Oh yes. She was, she was very, she actually became very active towards the end, as you saw with interviews. And she does—she does them well. People really watch,” Trump explained. “She’s very beloved by the people, Melania. And they like the fact that she’s not out there in your face all the time for many reasons. Many political people have that, you know. But she’s, she’s really, they really like her. They really love her. Actually, in many ways, when I make speeches, we love our First Lady. They have signs, we love our First Lady. No, she’ll be–she’ll be active when she needs to be, when she needs to be.”

While Melania did spend much of her time with Barron in the early stages of the 2024 election cycle, toward the end she engaged more with the media, making video posts on X to promote her memoir and set the record straight on some of the issues surrounding her husband.

Following his election, she sat down with the ‘Fox & Friends’ crew to dish on a number of topics including her husband’s iconic dance, how she feels about returning to the White House, and Barron’s transition to adulthood.

“It’s incredible,” she said of Trump’s election night victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. “And, we are very, very busy…  I’m establishing my transition team. And also, working on my office, putting my office together, and also, you know, organizing the residence and packing.”

“It’s incredible what you need to do when in that situation,” she noted.
