The ambitions of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) could be derailed by scheming former Speaker Nancy Pelosi who is reportedly working in the background to undermine her bid for a powerful House position.

With the party lacking a leader after the Kamala Harris catastrophe, the New York City diva is seeking to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, a springboard to a 2028 White House run that buzz is already building about.

But if AOC is going to beat out Rep. Gerry Connelly (D-VA) for the top Oversight spot, the 35-year-old firebrand will also have to overcome the 84-year-old Pelosi’s meddling in what is shaping up as a battle of generations for control of the reeling party.

According to Punchbowl News, Pelosi has been “actively working” to sink Ocasio-Cortez’s power play for the committee’s ranking member spot and has been making calls on behalf of the 74-year-old Connelly who recently announced that he’d been diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus.

“Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi is actively working to tank AOC’s bid for the top Dem spot on the House Oversight Comittee, I’m told,” said reporter Melanie Zanona in a post to X. “Pelosi has been making calls & campaigning on behalf of Gerry Connolly, who’s running against AOC.”

“The backing from Pelosi, who still holds influence in the party, could be a big boost for Connolly. Sources close to the Virginia Democrat say he’s growing increasingly confident that he’ll prevail in the race, telling us Connolly has received nearly 130 hard yes or leaning yes commitments. For what it’s worth, Ocasio-Cortez is also confident she’ll have the votes. But what else are you going to say at this point — that you’re losing?” Zanona wrote in her inside scoop for the outlet.

X users are already stocking up on popcorn.

Democrats embraced the far-left politics of Ocasio-Cortez and her “Squad” and got burned badly in the election when they were rejected by voters who overwhelmingly voted to return President-elect Donald J. Trump to the White House.

But instead of moderating, the party is set to double down with the rise of AOC through the ranks and the likely ascension of Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), a former radical left academic, to the top spot on the House Judiciary Committee.

The last time that Pelosi flexed her muscles it was a disaster. The Speaker Emerita is the one who along with Barack Obama orchestrated the coup that stole the Democrat nomination from President Joe Biden and gave it to Harris in the most undemocratic way possible. It did not turn out well.
