Most people think about what they have to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. 

Politicians tend to post things about family and friends or maybe even how grateful they are to live in this country that has provided so much to so many. It’s been a beacon of freedom.

Our Vice President-elect, JD Vance acknowledged that. 

But then there were those like former Obama official/MSNBC commentator Julian Castro, who seemed to be trying for the “worst take” award, telling Americans they should be giving thanks to the “undocumented immigrants” for the food they are eating.

Republicans Share What They Are Most Grateful for This Thanksgiving

Apparently, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) didn’t want him to grab the crown; she put up her own bid for the worst take on Thanksgiving, as Rebecca Downs at sister site Townhall reported.

This Thanksgiving, we mourn the Indigenous people killed by European settlers and the United States in order to steal their land. From here to Palestine, we stand in solidarity with all Indigenous people as they fight for freedom on their own land.

But wait a second.

Isn’t she living on those “stolen lands”? Why is she still here then? Is she suggesting every one who is not Native American should get out? And we could also make the argument that even “Native Americans” aren’t “native,” since they likely originally came from somewhere else. 

We hear this rehashing of 400 years ago on some level from the left every Thanksgiving. Yet, they’re all still here on the “stolen lands.” Funny how that works. It’s because it’s only about the left trying to find some excuse to bash the United States. 

But then Tlaib also tosses in an attack on Israel for good measure, saying from “here to Palestine,” she stands with “Indigenous” people as they fight for their land. 

There are a few small problems with this. First, one could surely take issue with the claim that “Palestinians” were somehow more indigenous than Jews to the area. Then, second and perhaps most importantly, did she just say she’s standing in solidarity with Hamas? Because that’s what it sounds like, if she’s claiming she’s standing with “Palestinians” fighting for “their land.” Does she care that they’re still holding American hostages?

If she were really arguing for the indigenous people, she should be arguing for the Jewish people, as many responded. She got nailed good on her positions.
