Predictable projection found one Democratic senator’s Chicken Little routine over President-elect Donald Trump’s top cop nominee razed as “ridiculous.”

Between Vice President Kamala Harris’ concession and President Joe Biden’s warm welcome at the White House, the Democratic Party had thoroughly demonstrated that they themselves didn’t buy into any of the rhetoric they spewed on Trump. However, that reality wasn’t enough to put an end to the doomsaying as Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy boarded the carousel of commiseration, fearmongering over the nomination of Pam Bondi for U.S. Attorney General.

“Don’t celebrate that Matt Gaetz is gone,” the senator captioned a video posted Friday, reacting to the former Florida attorney general getting named in place of the withdrawn former Florida congressman. “Keep your eye on the ball. [Pam] Bondi will serve the exact same role — turning the Department of Justice into a political arm of the White House with a mission to punish political dissent.”

“Matt Gaetz was a threat to democracy, but so is Pam Bondi,” insisted Murphy who argued as AG she would “do whatever Donald Trump tells her to do…”

Readily ignoring concerns of lawfare witnessed under the Biden-Harris administration, the lawmaker said, “Listen, we need to open our eyes to what is happening here. Donald Trump has made it clear that he wants to turn the Department of Justice into an arm of the White House. He has said over and over again that he intends to use his power to prosecute and punish his political enemies.”

“Pam Bondi’s number one qualification is that she is a sycophant to Donald Trump. She buried cases of fraud against Trump University in Florida. She was a member of his legal defense team after he organized an assault on United States democracy on January 6, 2021,” accused Murphy. “She will do whatever Donald Trump tells her to do, and he has said openly that he no longer sees the Department of Justice as an independent entity that protects all of us.”

“He wants the Department of Justice to go after anybody who opposes him politically. That is the end to our democracy. So Matt Gaetz was a deeply unqualified, unserious nominee, but nobody should be celebrating that Matt Gaetz is not in line to be attorney general, and Pam Bondi is. She presents just the same threat to rule of law as Matt Gaetz did,” he concluded.

The latest meltdown over a Trump nominee did not go unaddressed on social media as users readily checked the hyperbole while also calling out the projection that failed to account for the monitoring of concerned parents at school board meetings, the arrests of pro-life advocates and the lengthy imprisonment of many Americans, with the greatest offense for some having been walking through the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
