One can determine whether a piece of information is damaging to Democrats in power. Judging by the Sunday shows’ response to reports that over 13,000 illegal aliens convicted of murder were released into the interior of the United States: extremely damaging.

Per Fox News:

The data says that, among those not in detention, there are 425,431 convicted criminals and 222,141 with pending criminal charges.

Those include 62,231 convicted of assault, 14,301 convicted of burglary, 56,533 with drug convictions and 13,099 convicted of homicide. An additional 2,521 have kidnapping convictions and 15,811 have sexual assault convictions.

There are an additional 1,845 with pending homicide charges, 42,915 with assault charges, 3,266 with burglary charges and 4,250 with assault charges.

In a statement on Saturday, DHS said the data was being “misinterpreted.”

“The data goes back decades; it includes individuals who entered the country over the past 40 years or more, the vast majority of whose custody determination was made long before this Administration,” a spokesperson said. “It also includes many who are under the jurisdiction or currently incarcerated by federal, state or local law enforcement partners.”

Danielle Pletka of the American Enterprise Institute presented the data consistent with Fox’s reporting, including the point about the numbers not being exclusive to this administration. Nonetheless, NBC’s Kristen Welker felt compelled to firefight the data, almost reflexively, and pivot off of that and on to the upcoming vice presidential debate:

DANIELLE PLETKA: I think for Kamala Harris, and obviously by inference also for Tim Walz this is going to be a really big challenge, because: where has she been for the last three and a half years? This is her border crisis. She is the Vice President of the United States. The number of non-detained immigrants in the country is twice the number. We’re talking about 7.4 million people in this country right now, and we can- you know, we can throw calumnies around who they are and what they are, but the statistics that were shared with Congress just last week about the number of criminals, murderers. They’re not all criminals, they’re not all murderers and they didn’t all come in under Biden and Harris, but twice the number is unacceptable and that’s why people are upset.

KRISTEN WELKER: And DHS has said some of those stats actually go back as far as 40 years, but Kelly, Danny really makes the point about why the stakes are so high on Tuesday night, including for Tim Walz who quite frankly, hasn’t been in that many unscripted events. What- what are you hearing about how they’re prepping and how they’re feeling?

KELLY O’DONNELL: The expectation-setting is starting, for sure. Tuesday night will be a big, big moment.

Pletka correctly noted both that the data went back decades, and that the non-detained docket DOUBLED under Biden-Harris. Nonetheless, Welker felt the need to jump in and hammer the point about the data going back four decades before moving on to the debate.

CNN STATE OF THE UNION

JAKE TAPPER: Let’s talk about the Trump campaign because I want to say- I want to play something Trump said yesterday in a speech ostensibly about Vice President Kamala Harris’s visit to the border. Let’s play- let’s take a listen.

DONALD TRUMP: Kamala is mentally impaired.

Joe Biden became mentally impaired Kamala was born that way.

If you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country.

TAPPER: Okay. So- first of all, there are actual people out there with mental impairments and that’s insulting to them. Second of all, Vice President Kamala Harris is not mentally impaired.

LINDSEY GRAHAM: No, I just think she’s crazy liberal. I don’t question her-

TAPPER:  But what- what do you think about that rhetoric?

GRAHAM: I- I just think the better course to take is to prosecute the case that her policies are destroying the country. They’re crazy liberal. 400,000 people have been let loose in our country. 16,000 people convicted of being a rapist, 13,000 convicted murderers, and 400,000 people generally convicted of crimes were released on her watch. It’s not going to get better.

TAPPER: OK. So I saw that statistic. We dove into it, our fact-checker, that statistic is actually over decades. So some of those people you’re talking about are people that came into the country during Trump. And second of all, some of them are in prison.. A lot of them are in prison for- not ICE prisons, but federal prisons for their- for their crimes.

GRAHAM: I can tell you this- the man who killed Laken Riley in Georgia was released by the Biden/Harris Administration on parole because they had no capacity at the border to hold him. That’s not a reason to parole people. I promise you they’re meant- women have been raped and murdered, people have been hurt by illegal immigrants released in this country without detention, it is a nightmare. It is crazy. It’s crazy to boycott a speech by the Prime Minister of Israel to a Joint Session of Congress thinking it won’t embolden Iran. It’s crazy to withdraw from Afghanistan, hoping things will be different this time. Medicare for All. Green New Deal. Crazy stuff.

TAPPER: Okay.

GRAHAM: I’m not saying she’s crazy. I’m saying your party…your policies are batshit crazy.

Jake Tapper, like Kristen Welker, had the fact-check at the ready. Graham takes a different course of action than did Pletka, pivoting to those criminal aliens that were released to the non-detained docket under the Biden-Harris Administration, including the man who killed Georgia nursing student Laken Riley- who reportedly has ties to the murderous Tren de Aragua gang that has established multiple beachheads across several U.S. cities.

Somehow, the Regime Media seem to believe that one cannot cite these data because they span a period of time well before Biden-Harris. This doesn’t magically make these data go away, no matter what Welker and Tapper may want to make viewers believe.

More than anything, they are proof evident of a broken immigration system that has been systematically smashed over the past three and a half years. This is what the data actually show, no matter how much the Regime Media may want to make you believe otherwise.
