Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is really something. Since 2014, she has led the Italian conservative Brothers of Italy Party and has been the European Conservatives and Reformists Party president since 2020. She has been Italy’s first woman Prime Minister since 2022. In 2023, Forbes Magazine lauded her as the fourth most powerful woman in the world, and in 2024, Time Magazine rated her as one of the most influential people in the world. Giorgia Meloni is smart, well-informed, confident, articulate, principled and determined.

In other words, Giorgia Meloni is everything Kamala Harris wishes she was but isn’t.

One 2022 video, posted on X recently, shows PM Meloni eviscerating the French practice of issuing colonial currency to some of the poorest nations in the world while demanding half of their domestic product:

My colleague Bonchie covered that takedown at the time.

This isn’t PM Meloni’s first time taking France on over their treatment of that country’s remaining colonial possessions.

Frankly, here in the United States, we could use more Giorgia Melonis and fewer Kamala Harrises. Here in the United States, liberals and “progressives” are ballyhooing the possibility of the first American “Madam President,” which the Democrats may have been able to achieve by now if they didn’t keep putting up horrible candidates. Her Imperial Majesty Hillary I, Dowager-Empress of Chappaqua, was their first real attempt, and we all know how that turned out. This year, they have anointed a candidate who is arguably even worse, without the benefit of one primary vote.

American “progressives” and feminists (but I repeat myself) will accuse Republicans and even independents of being horrible racists and sexists for failing to drop to our knees and pay homage to the Anointed One, but can we imagine how the conservative American voters would react to a home-grown American version of Giorgia Meloni? A smart, principled, honest, and forthright candidate who calls out other nations for their bad actions and hypocrisy? Who holds other world leaders’ feet to the fire when they have it coming? Who puts the interests of Americans first and foremost? An American Giorgia Meloni would do very well, I should think. She is everything Kamala Harris is not — and that, in and of itself, is enough of a recommendation.

Finally, as if we didn’t have enough reasons to like Giorgia Meloni, a New York Post video from last July shows her visible frustration while awaiting the arrival of a tardy American President Biden at a NATO summit:

PM Meloni, the only thing I can say is: You should see it from this side.
