Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced Thursday that he would meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday in New York.

“As you know, President Zelensky has asked to meet with me, and I will be meeting with him tomorrow morning at around 9:45 in Trump Tower,” Trump said during a press conference in New York, according to The Hill.

“And it’s a shame what’s happening in Ukraine, so many deaths, so much destruction,” he continued. “It’s a horrible thing.”

Zelensky appeared a press conference on Thursday with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris to discuss Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia.

Trump shared a post on TRUTH Social of Zelensky requesting to meet with him.

“All of us in Ukraine want to end this war with a just peace,” the message reads. “And we know that without America this is impossible to achieve.”
