Former first lady Melania Trump recalled her experience learning of the assassination attempts against her husband during a recent interview, calling both events “miracles” in light of the former president’s survival.

“And I think both of the events, they were really miracles. If you really think about it, the July 13 was a miracle, like that, much, and he could, you know, he could not be with us,” she said in an interview with Fox News.

“I ran to the TV, and I find it, and I watched it was only a few minutes behind, and something, I guess, look over me, so I didn’t really see live, but maybe, you know, three minutes, few minutes later,” she said of the first attempt in Butler, Pa. “But when I saw it, I you know it was only nobody really knew yet, right? Because when you see him on the floor, and you don’t know, you don’t know what really happened.”

On July 13, Trump sustained a gunshot wound to the ear when Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at his Butler rally. Crooks was killed by Secret Service counter snipers during the incident. Weeks later, Secret Service agents engaged with an armed suspect at Trump’s golf course in Palm Beach. The suspect fled and authorities have charged Ryan Wesley Routh with attempting to assassinate Trump.

“I was in New York City, actually, and I saw it on the television,” Melania said of the second attempt. “And as I saw it on television, I called again, and he was okay, because Secret Service were great guys that they were being they were fantastic.”
