A U.S. Secret Service agent accidentally shot himself in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night but will survive, according to the agency.

The agent was reportedly on duty when the incident happened in the District of Columbia near 32nd and Fessenden streets Northwest. He was handling his weapon when a “negligent discharge” occurred, resulting in non-life threatening injuries.

He was transported to a hospital and treated.
