U.S. House Rep. Adam Schiff (R-CA) and U.S. House Rep. Eric Swalwell (R-CA) have both been removed from the House Intelligence Committee.

This news isn’t new, as Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy has only kept his word that he would remove them when he had the power. It seems that now that it has actually happened, Schiff feels wounded. He took to Twitter to call it “petty, political payback”. He then went on to declare that he won’t stop.

Schiff tweeted in full:

“Kevin McCarthy just kicked me and @RepSwalwell off the Intelligence Committee. This is petty, political payback for investigating Donald Trump. If he thinks this will stop me, he will soon find out just how wrong he is. I will always defend our democracy.”

Schiff to some seems to be the most publicly dramatic member of Congress. He seems to jump at the chance to blame former President Donald Trump for anything he can. He even believes investigating Trump is the reason he was removed from the House Intelligence Committee.

However, according to McCarthy’s letter to minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), he compares removing Schiff and Swalwell to what the Democrats did in the last Congress, removing Paul Gosar (R-AZ and Marjorie Taylor Greene from committees.)

This contrast in reasoning only points to Schiff’s seemingly only motivating factor, what many may call “Trump Derangement Syndrome”. This seems to be Schiff’s motivation for everything he does, calling it defending “democracy”. It seems he may need a self-assessment.

Trump has been out of office for over two years now, yet Schiff seems to point his finger at former POTUS for just about everything, maybe because he’s running for president again?
