Improved House Bill Would Protect Thousands of Unborn Children & Their Mothers in Indiana; Senate Urged to Concur

Washington, D.C. – Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America today thanked lawmakers in the Indiana House of Representatives for making important changes to strengthen protections for unborn children and their mothers in S.B. 1 and encouraged the state Senate to concur with their changes. SBA Pro-Life America’s Director of State Affairs Sue Liebel testified about the humanity of the unborn and their ability to feel excruciating pain at least by 15 weeks’ gestation when killed in abortions.

SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser stated:

“Indiana House lawmakers have made significant improvements to the legislation that left the Senate last week. The result is a much stronger bill that, when enacted, will spare the overwhelming majority of unborn children and their mothers from the brutality of abortion and effectively close abortion facilities in Indiana.

“We stand with Indiana Right to Life and we also commend our House allies for their hard work to build consensus. SBA Pro-life America encourages the Senate to accept the House’s much-needed changes and send them to Governor Holcomb for his signature so life can be overwhelmingly protected in Indiana. In our ongoing fight to protect as many children and mothers as possible, this bill is a big step forward to save thousands of Hoosier lives.”

Since the Dobbs decision, at least a dozen states have taken action to protect life. SBA Pro-Life America has launched an interactive map to track life-saving laws in the states and the estimated number of abortions impacted.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network of more than one million pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
