Momentum Grows as a Dozen States Broadly Protect the Unborn & Their Mothers After Dobbs

Washington, D.C.Unborn children with beating hearts and their mothers are protected in South Carolina after an injunction against the state’s heartbeat protection law was lifted Monday evening.

With South Carolina, broad legal protections for unborn children and mothers are in effect in 11 states, with more poised to follow swiftly (temporary injunctions have been issued in Louisiana and Utah). In Tennessee, the abortion lobby indicated it will drop its litigation against the state’s heartbeat protections, which could take effect as early as Tuesday.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America celebrated in a statement:

“Victory in Dobbs paved the way for pro-life leaders across America to act swiftly on the will of the people. Lives are being saved immediately, and thousands will be saved in the coming weeks and months,” said SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Advances in science have made the humanity of unborn children undeniable. We know they are unique and irreplaceable from the moment of fertilization, have beating hearts by six weeks, are forming fingerprints by ten weeks, feel pain by 15 weeks, and much more. We are thankful for pro-life champions like South Carolina’s Gov. Henry McMaster and Tennessee’s Gov. Bill Lee, their administrations and all our local allies working tirelessly to safeguard unborn babies in the law and serve the needs of women and families. Now that unelected judges are taking their thumb off the scales, the voice of Americans is being heard.”

SBA Pro-Life America will continue to track the status of pro-life laws in post-Roe America.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network of more than one million pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
