I have a lot of thoughts at this new report, most of which are not very Christian or charitable in the least.
From Fox News:
The head of the Texas Department of Public Safety said Tuesday that Uvalde police could have stopped the mass shooting at Robb Elementary within three minutes, calling their response an “abject failure.”
Testifying before a special Texas Senate committee hearing, Col. Steve McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, told lawmakers that “There is compelling evidence that the law enforcement response to the attack at Robb Elementary was an abject failure and antithetical to everything we’ve learned over the last two decades since the Columbine massacre.”
“Three minutes after the suspect entered the west building, there was a sufficient number of armed officers wearing body armor to isolate, distract, and neutralize the subject,” he said. “The only thing stopping a hallway of dedicated officers from entering Room 111, and 112, was the on-scene commander, who decided to place the lives of officers before the lives of children.”
McCraw on Tuesday again placed blamed on Pete Arredondo, the Uvalde school district police chief, for deciding to put the lives of officers ahead of children’s lives.
It is truly unreal. These officers had shields and body armor within THREE MINUTES of the shooter entering. If ONE good man had decided to stop the madman, how many lives could have been saved?
The San Antonio Express first reported this over the weekend, although their report relied on a single anonymous source. As reported by the Daily Wire:
“Surveillance footage shows that police never tried to open a door to two classrooms at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde in the 77 minutes between the time a gunman entered the rooms and massacred 21 people and officers finally breached the door and killed him,” the San Antonio Express-News reported, noting that the information came from a law enforcement official who was involved in investigating law enforcement’s response to the tragedy. “Investigators believe the 18-year-old gunman who killed 19 children and two teachers at the school on May 24 could not have locked the door to the connected classrooms from the inside.”
It seems their report has now been confirmed and I’m angry, y’all.
Look at them in the hallway!
KIDS WERE BEING SHOT AS THEY STOOD THERE!!!
THEY WAITED AN HOUR BEFORE GOING IN!
THEY HAD BODY ARMOR, SHIELDS, AND A HALLIGAN TOOL THAT PRIES OPEN DOORS!!!
This was 10 minutes later at 12:04:
Weenies hiding behind ballistic shields while kids get slaughtered.
UNREAL. How could you be this horrible at your job, this spineless, and this corrupt at the same time?? Even random people with zero force-on-force expertise can see the problem here.
Back to the Fox report:
“The officers had weapons, while the children had none. The officers had body armor, the children had none. The officers had training, the subject had none,” McCraw said Tuesday. “One hour, 14 minutes and eight seconds. That’s how long the children waited, and the teachers waited, in Room 111 to be rescued. And while they waited, the on-scene commander waited for radio and rifles. And he waited for shields, and he waited for SWAT. Lastly, he waited for a key that was never needed.”
I honestly don’t know what to say. The media and politicians have tried desperately to demonize cops by twisting facts to fit narratives.
But this? The cops just demonized themselves. I can’t think of anything that’s eroded public trust in such a disgraceful fashion.
“We set our profession back a decade,” [McCraw] said.
You have that right.
