The latest “Toy Story” spinoff, “Lightyear,” struggled at the box office this weekend, following criticism over a gay kiss included in the kids movie.

The flick brought in a total of $51 million in its three day opening, bringing in $20.7 million on Friday, then dropping off to $16.3 million on Saturday, and bringing in another anemic $14 million on Sunday.

Yikes!

That may sound like a lot of money, but remember that this is a Pixar film. It cost over $200 million to make, not including marketing and promotion, which adds up to tens of millions more. Then there’s all the toys, franchising, and other deals that add up to who knows how much on the back end.

If it only made back 10% of its base budget on opening day, followed by another 15-20% for the rest of opening weekend, it means it’s going to have a dismal showing for the rest of its run.

Consider that Toy Story 4 made $121 million its opening weekend several years back!

The woke media is SHOCKED and trying to wrap its head around what just happened.

“What the hell happened here?” Deadline queried, not once bringing up the film’s same-sex kiss controversy.

Instead, Deadline suggested the movie came out too soon in the franchise, writing, “this could be a case of going to the Toy Story well too soon, too fast.”

The media said the same thing about Star Wars, announcing that it was just franchise “fatigue.”

Nope.

Here’s what happened, wokies 👇

  • Disney and Pixar made a big deal out of the lesbian kiss in the film, making sure to shove it in the faces of parents everywhere.
  • They also ousted the voice of Buzz Lightyear, Tim Allen, because he’s a run-of-the-mill Republican voter.
  • Then the new voice of Buzz, Chris Evans, said anyone opposed to the totali-tolerant progress of the woke religion and its unhinged sexual teachings will “die off like dinosaurs.”
  • This, of course, follows months of backlash against Disney’s fight to allow sex to be taught to kindergarteners in Florida, as well as leaked messages from high-level staff about its “not-so-secret gay agenda.”

But the wokies think it’s just about timing.

They genuinely do not understand the moral disgust of parents in this nation right now who just want to enjoy good movies with their kids without having a sexual agenda shoved in their faces!

John Nolte over at Breitbart had some great feedback:

Marvel releases two and three movies a year. You mean like that going to the well too soon?

The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit came out every year. You mean like that going to the well too soon?

The two Sonic the Hedgehog movies came out two years apart (2020, 2022) and the second one opened higher than the first ($58 million versus $72 million). You mean like that going to the well too soon?

Oh, and both of those Sonic openings beat Lightyear’s opening.

Then Deadline blames the critical reaction, even though Lightyear has an 80 percent fresh score at Rotten Tomatoes and Jurassic World Dominion is below 40 percent.

Then Deadline blames the inflationary economy, even though in the past three weeks we’ve seen both Top Gun and Jurassic World Dominion perform at or way above expectations.

Here’s the bottom line, Disneytards: You don’t gay up Toy Story.

Are you out of your minds?

I think they actually are.

Then Nolte knocks it outta the park with this real talk:

No one cares if movies are made for homosexuals. Movies should be made for everyone. But you are never going to mainstream this stuff because — even though most people are afraid to say so — watching it makes 90 percent of us uncomfortable. Unless you are gay, same-sex sex, even a kiss, is unnatural and we don’t go to the movies to be made uncomfortable. And we sure as hell don’t go to the movies to have to explain human sexuality to our children before they’re ready for it.

Adding to the woes is Disney’s subscription model, which doesn’t encourage people to go to theaters if they just wait a few months to get a movie on Disney Plus.

The only way to get people excited to watch the film with their family is if it’s a compelling, riveting, well written movie that gives solid moral lessons without woke preaching.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there’s no competition. The only kiddie movie still in theaters is The Bad Guys, which opened all the way back in April. After the resounding success of Toy Story 4 and with a wide-open field at the box office, especially during the summer, especially over Father’s Day, there was never a better time to open Lightyear.

But you had to use Disney’s most iconic franchise and one of its most iconic characters to push your grooming agenda.

All Disney has left is a few die-hard fans, the woke cultists, and random people who have nothing better to do over the weekend! Not good!
