White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre today shockingly told Fox News’ Peter Doocy that Joe Biden plans to move forwards with trying to “end fossil fuel.”
While many assert that current gas prices have nothing to do with anything the administration has done, statements like that are sure to have an effect.
Biden warned oil companies in a letter sent yesterday, “My administration is prepared to use all reasonable and appropriate Federal Government tools and emergency authorities to increase refinery capacity and output in the near term, and to ensure that every region of this country is appropriately supplied.”
Chet Thompson, CEO of the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, responded in a statement, “We are surprised and disappointed by the President’s letter.”
In a clip shared by Breaking911, Doocy asked Jean-Pierre, “The President once said he was going to end fossil fuel, is that now off the table?”
“No. We are going to continue to move forward with our clean energy proposal, our climate change proposal,” Jean-Pierre shot back.
Prior to that, Jean-Pierre had explained that the administration needs oil companies to refine the oil that is out there so production will go up and prices will go down.
Thompson had also addressed that in the statement as he insisted that “Any suggestion that US refiners are not doing our part to bring stability to the market is false.”
“We would encourage the Administration to look inward to better understand the role their policies and hostile rhetoric have played in the current environment,” Thompson added.
