Actress Patricia Heaton thinks it was a huge mistake not to cast Tim Allen in his iconic role of Buzz Lightyear in Disney’s new movie Lightyear; Heaton hopped on Twitter to blast the House of Mouse for the misstep.

“Saw the trailer for Buzz Lightyear and all I can say is Disney/Pixar made a HUGE mistake in not casting my pal [Tim Allen],” Heaton tweeted. “Tim Allen in the role that he originated, the role that he owns,” she added. “Tim IS Buzz! Why would they completely castrate this iconic, beloved character?”

“Ok, so the current Buzz Lightyear movie is an origin story – but the reason the character became so beloved is because of what [Tim Allen] created,” Heaton continued. “Why remove the one element that makes us want to see it? [stupidHollywooddecisions].”

Disney replaced Allen, claiming this was a story about the hero the toy was based on —not the Buzz Lightyear action figure. Captain America actor Chris Evans hopped in the vocal booth, taking Allen’s place, for this installment.

Allen was not, apparently, replaced for his conservative politics.

Meanwhile, Lightyear is already in trouble overseas for a same-sex kiss that appears in the film; its banned in several Middle-Eastern countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
