At the NRA Convention over the weekend, around 500 protesters showed up and chanted “NRA go away,” and “Shame, it could be your kids today.”

Actress Bette Midler, however, had been on a Twitter rampage after the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas and she had urged protesters to come to the event “armed” and to treat it like “January 6.”

Midler initially quote tweeted an announcement that “The NRA conference is THIS Friday. In Houston, Texas. Nice timing, a**holes. Speakers include Ted Cruz and Gov. Greg Abbott, who boasts an A+ rating from the same NRA. Are they worried? No. The conference area is a ‘no gun’ zone. They’re brazen, greedy, and shameless, not stupid.”

However, the NRA conference area was not a “no gun” zone, although attendees weren’t allowed to carry guns during former President Donald Trump’s address.

In the quote tweet, Midler declared, “So I hope the protesters come like January 6, and give them a taste of their own medicine.”

Midler later responded with another quote tweet to a reply to that initial tweet by an activist who had suggested, “PEOPLE SHOULD SHOW UP AND PROTEST AT THIS CONFERENCE.”

In that quote tweet, Midler directed her followers where they could show up and protest and urged them to “come armed.”

“AT THE GEORGE R BROWN CONVENTION CENTER IN HOUSTON TEXAS, THIS WEEKEND. Come armed,” Midler said.
