Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke to Fox News’ Jesse Watters about the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. The Lone Star legislator says it’s time to do something —and not empty political posturing like Beto O’Rourke.

“In 2013 I introduced legislation that would spend $300 million dollars on federal grants to harden schools, to make them more protected —the Democrats filibustered that legislation…We need to do something but it’s not empty political posturing, it’s acting and acting strongly to keep our kids safe.”

Cruz shared the clip of his appearance on Twitter, saying “Enough is enough. We need to act by hardening school security and hiring armed police officers to keep our kids safe.”

The Senator also pledged to keep fighting felons who try to obtain firearms; Cruz tells Watters “we need to stop the bad guys.”

“I’m going to keep fighting to target felons and fugitives who try to buy firearms. We need to stop bad guys from getting guns, not law-abiding citizens.”
