Long shot racehorse Rich Strike won the Kentucky Derby Saturday, coming from behind along the inside rail to beat second-place Epicenter by three-quarters of a length. In a stunning end to the race, jockey Sonny Leon guided Rich Strike from near the back of the pack to the front over the final stretch (overhead view). It marked the second-largest upset in Derby history, surpassed only by Donerail’s win in 1913.

The victor was not even on the card until Friday when the late scratch of Ethereal Road made room for Rich Strike. The colt entered with 80-1 odds, having won just one previous race in his career. The excited winner had to be restrained from biting his track pony after crossing the finish line.

Rich Strike will continue his Cinderella story at the Preakness, the next Triple Crown race, May 21. Watch the full Derby here.
