Former President George W Bush (R) is set to appear at a fundraising event for Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R). The fundraiser will be held at the home of Texas real estate developer Harlan Crow.

Kemp and former President Donald Trump’s relationship deteriorated after the 2020 presidential election. So much so that Trump has endorsed former Senator David Perdue (R) for Governor of Georgia in this year’s primary election.

Trump had called for Kemp to be ousted after the 2020 election after Kemp refused to help Trump with overturning Georgia’s election results. Trump claims the results of the election were rigged. Neither Kemp nor Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger did anything at the time to stop the certification of the results.

After Joe Biden took office however it seems that Raffensperger has now decided to look into Fulton county and the irregularities reported there.

Bush’s expected appearance at the fundraising event for Kemp highlights a division within the Republican party. It is also no surprise, as last year Bush appeared at a fundraiser for Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) and donated money to Senator Lisa Murkowski’s (R-AK) re-election campaign. The pair both backed the impeachment of former President Trump.

Tickets for the event are priced at $5,000 with a VIP reception listed at $15,000.

Decision Desk HQ shared on Twitter, “Donald Trump isn’t the only former President getting involved in the Georgia gubernatorial primary. George W. Bush will attend a fundraiser for incumbent Governor Brian Kemp this month.”
