Authorities are searching for an Alabama corrections officer who disappeared with an inmate serving time for kidnapping and attempted murder. An arrest warrant was issued yesterday for Vicky White, an assistant director of corrections for Lauderdale County, on charges of permitting or facilitating escape in the first degree. She was last seen April 29, armed and taking inmate Casey Cole White (no relation) to what she said was a mental health evaluation, although no evaluation or hearing was scheduled that day.
Casey, 38, was serving a 75-year sentence for crimes committed in 2015 that involved a home invasion, carjacking, and a police chase. He also confessed to stabbing and killing a 58-year-old woman, for which he was awaiting trial.
Vicky, 56, was set to retire after spending nearly two decades at the corrections department. Coworkers regarded her as a model employee who was awarded Employee of the Year four times.
The US Marshals Service is offering up to $10K for information leading to the pair.
