As we reported earlier, Elon Musk described in a timeline the political shift that has occurred since 2008, where he feels like he hasn’t changed but rather the left has.
In a response to writer Tim Urban, Musk expounded on the situation as Urban had quote tweeted his tweet.
“I strongly supported Obama for President, but today’s Democratic Party has been hijacked by extremists,” Musk declared in response.
Urban said in the initial quote tweet, “Today, Elon tweeted this diagram by @SwipeWright, which sums up how a lot of people (including me) feel. Then a bunch of ppl responded w/ graphs showing that Republican politicians have moved farther right in that time than Dems have moved left.”
“Here’s what I think is happening: It’s true that on aggregate, the right has moved more to the extreme than the left in Washington. But the small group on the far left has become very *culturally* powerful & out of fear, the rest of the left has often allowed them to speak (and make policies) for the whole left,” Urban continued in a thread.
Urban concluded, “So even though the left hasn’t moved that far left (as is shown by voting results), the left is in a sense being held hostage by their extreme wing, making a lot of people who enthusiastically voted for Obama feel politically homeless today.”

Arizona GOP State Senator Wendy Rogers responded to Musk in a quote tweet where she told him, “Obama was and still is an extremist bro.”

As we previously reported:
Elon Musk shared a timeline today that shows he believes the left has pushed him from left of center in 2008 to right of center as of last year by moving so far to the left.
The timeline shows three years, first in 2008, then 2012, and lastly 2021. In the beginning, a stick figure described as him is standing to the left of center with his “fellow liberal” at the end.
In 2008, Musk’s stick figure also has a smile on his face, but then in the 2012 version, he starts to frown as the stick figure on the left appears to be running away from him as he asks, “My fellow liberal?” He also had moved closer to the center at that point from 2008 as the line expanded.
In the 2021 version, to the left of Musk is the woke “progressive” who is calling anyone to the right of them a “bigot!”
Musk at that point is further to the right of center than he was in the beginning to the left of center as the line has expanded even more.
The stick figure representing Musk also has an astonished face as the conservative stick figure says, “LOL!”
