Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List announced today that Mary Owens has joined the group’s communications team as communications director.
Mary Owens is a Capitol Hill veteran who previously served as communications director for Representative Dan Meuser (R-PA) and press secretary for Senator Mike Braun (R-IN). Mary gained extensive experience in political communications on the campaign trail with Representative Todd Rokita (R-IN) prior to joining his official office in Washington, D.C. A graduate of Ball State University, Mary is a native of Indiana.
“Mary’s skillset and experience make her an ideal addition to our growing communications team,” said SBA List Vice President of Communications Mallory Carroll. “As Susan B. Anthony List and our entities expand to address the growing pro-life opportunities at the state and federal level – especially as we await a decision from the Supreme Court in the landmark Dobbs late abortion case – we need advocates like Mary who excel at winsomely communicating the pro-life message. We are thrilled to have Mary on the team and look forward to seeing the great work she will do on behalf of unborn children and their mothers.”
In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case involving a Mississippi law that limits abortion after 15 weeks, the Supreme Court will address whether all pre-viability abortion limits are unconstitutional. A decision is expected in the spring or summer of 2022.
In recent weeks, lawmakers in Arizona, Florida and West Virginia have advanced legislation to stop late abortions after 15 weeks, a point by which science shows unborn children can feel pain. Public opinion polls consistently show a strong majority of Americans reject pro-abortion extremism.
This election cycle, SBA List and its entities plan to spend $73 million. This includes reaching eight million voters across battleground states – four million directly at their doors – to take back the U.S. House and Senate.
SBA List is a network of 900,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
